First off- I LOVE documenting where we stayed. Crazy I know but it's just fun to remember. And it's fun to stay places (especially when not sharing a room with my kids- who I LOVE but tend to wake me up early in hotel rooms!!). So- here it is- our B&B!!

Sunday morning we got up and headed to Sacrament meeting at the Hawaii Kai ward. Then we went back and moved our stuff out of the room but Joan was nice enough to let us keep our bags there while we went on our hike. Driving around with luggage is a no no in Hawaii- lots of thefts from cars.

We grabbed lunch at a local deli/sandwich shop (yum!) and then headed up to the Monoa Falls Hike. This hike was a highlight for me- not because the falls at the end was spectacular but because to get there you get to walk through a rainforest- beautiful!

At the falls- there was a mudslide in I think late 90's so they had a chain up and sign telling people not to get closer than where we were. Not many people listened- but hey at least if another happens the state will be able to try to ward of lawsuits! Ah our society.

Our treat at the end! This was a small shave ice from the snack shop where we paid for parking. It was my favorite we had the whole trip. Who needs Matsumoto's?

After finishing our shave ice we headed to the Punchbowl Cemetary. It is a military cemetary that has a monument for all the military who have lost their lives in the Pacific and never had their bodies recovered. Tons and tons of people. A very touching monument.

On either side of these stairs were the walls with names. They ran perpendicular to the stairs- lots of people.

We then headed back to our B&B and grabbed our bags before taking the H3 out to Kailua and then the 83 up to Laie. Such a beautiful drive- green, green, green. Once in Laie we found our place-moved everything in and headed out to see the temple and BYU-Hawaii. Beautiful campus but it's so small! Not that I was expecting huge but wow! We picked up some groceries in Hauula (everything in Laie is closed Sunday!) and grabbed a pizza for dinner. When we got back to our little oceanfront studio we headed down the stairs to the beach (Laie bay). In true east shore style- we got rained on when we first went down but waited 10 min. under a tree and then enjoyed a rain free moonlit stroll on the beach!!
