Independence

Mr. Independent:

Andrew is a little boy now- it is SO crazy. He pretty much walks all the time now (didn't start walking until 16 months) and has a BIG smile that lights up his face. He likes to do everything by himself and copy his brother. When we don' t let him, he throws his head back and screams- results in lots of head ouchies (he's been a tantrum kid since around 7 or 8 months). He loves to throw balls, drive cars, and dance. What a joy (almost) all the time.

Mr. Anti-Independence:

A rare sighting- Luke eating by himself

Luke is our almost 4 year old- how'd that happen? He loves being a big brother- helping his brother and making him laugh and dance. The boys love singing "If you're happy and you know it." He enjoys driving his trike and playing with friends. He's very into pretend play with action figures (Toy Story since we got some at Disneyland), listening/dancing to music, and of course looking at books. He is definitely a boy- having his figures fight with each other- Zurg vs. anyone is good.

We are having trouble being independent when it comes to eating (super distracted) and dressing (no interest). Any ideas how to get an almost 4 year old to eat MEALS in 30 min. or less and WANT to get himself dressed?

Give him all Lightning McQueen clothes? A mother's dream. How funny their personalities are so different!

You were our slow eating kid Cheryl-Lynn, often still at the table when everyone else had finished. And if you remember, we had the rule that you had to be dressed with your bed made before breakfast because a kid can do those in a couple minutes before eating while it takes hours and hours after breakfast.
