There once was a girl- a happy girl with a good life- and for this little story we shall call her a princess. She lived in her green ghetto castle with her prince and two little munchkins. She worked day and night as a Mommy- which suited her quite well. Her Prince worked day and night- as an MBA student. Neither job paid well (or at all) in the monetary sense but both lent to future success.
Lucky for the prince, he had married a thrifty princess. Penny-wise, frugal, prudent, economical, whatever word you want to use- it served them well in their current economic situation. An offshoot of this tendency is the princesses compulsion to shop ONLY at thrift stores for clothing. Now don’t despair, there are many options at thrift stores- (though in Utah County, where they reside, thrift stores are not so thrifty). One can find a pant suit (in lime green) right next to a simply dashing floral one. A button down pastel pink shirt next to a simple jean. A problem remains with finding something worth buying that also fits just right. The prince might inform the reader that little fits his princess right from these stores- but sometimes we have to be willing to go up a size or two to find something that isn’t, say, lime green, floral, or pink.
Then one day this thrifty princess found a website with beautiful clothes. She could order these clothes in just her size, just her color, and OH- what fun. But alas, did I mention the no income problem? Well, she can dream. Weeks go by as she frequents this website dreaming about some day…some day.
Then one day- oh could it be-a contest?!? The Shabby Apple is having a contest in which the princess could WIN a vignette of her choice? Oh what a dream come true!! If only she could win- she could be a true princess- not just of the thrifty type. She could go on a date- a real date- with her prince in clothes that FIT (and have never been worn by another person). A nice restaurant perhaps, or strolling along a tree-lined street. It doesn’t really matter what they do- for the prince and princess enjoy each other but for once, the princess can be wearing something that is Fit to Flatter!! A gorgeous plum dress, stylish black shoes, sac to match, and who could forget a little pop with a necklace? A dream for this thrifty princess!
